THE 492 - Senior Thesis

The Senior Thesis is designed as a capstone project for the BA in Theatre, BA in Theatrical Design, BFA in Acting, or BFA in Musical Theatre degrees.  The thesis will consist of three components:

1.  Final project presented in public performance demonstrating expertise in declared area of  specialization. 

2.  Completion of a paper that details the performance or design/production project and/or preparation of a role(s) undertaken in a realized production with faculty consent in the student’s final academic year.

3.  An oral defence of the thesis in front of the full-time Theatre and Dance faculty.

BA Theatrical Design students will be assigned their thesis project with a design on the mainstage.

BA Theatre students may choose from any of the following positions on a mainstage production: Acting, Design, Choreography, Dramaturgy, Fight Choreography, Intimacy Direction, or Stage Management.

BFA Acting and Musical Theatre students may choose the Senior Thesis if they opt out of the NYC Sympoisum option in their degree plan.  The thesis will be fulfilled thrrough a role on the mainstage (not guaranteed to be a lead role).

 

Prerequisite(s): Theatre major; Senior standing, and Faculty approval.
Grading Basis: Letter Grade Repeatable: No Typical Periods Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
