ENGR 365 - Engineering Economics: Product Life Cycle and Sustainability3 Cr. Hrs. This course addresses the economic, environmental and sustainability impact of engineering decisions in product, process, and production designs. Special attention is given to the product life cycle, industrial ecology, and economic concepts of sustainability. The course emphasizes the application of economic principles to engineering problems to aid decision making in context and environment and so integrates economic theory with engineering practice, including comparative cost assessments. Topics include the time value of money, cash flows, interest rates, inflation, uncertainty, replacements, depreciation, resource depletion, taxes, tax credits, general accounting, cost estimations, and capital financing.
