MEEN 250 - Introduction to Mechanical Systems Engineering3 Cr. Hrs. This course emphasizes system thinking and presents a systems view of engineered mechanical systems. Introduces the system life cycle of design, development, production, and management. Systems, sub-systems, integration, interrelation, interoperability and their economic considerations. Quantitative concepts of systems health, prognostic performance, Remaining Useful Life (RUL), reliability, smart systems, big data, and predictive analytics. Also serves as an orientation to the complete mechanical engineering curriculum including elementary concepts in fluidic mechanics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, signals and controls in the context of manufacturing.
