ENGR 210 - Engineering Design and Graphics Studio2 Cr. Hrs. Students learn standards and techniques for communicating engineering designs through drawings and written communication. This course addresses foundations of geometric modeling as applied to engineering design through use of modern computer-aided design (CAD) and physical prototyping tools. Topics include i) basics of systematic design methodology, ii) geometric visualization concepts including multiview orthographic, isometric, oblique and perspective, iii) three-dimensional representations including surface and solid modeling, iv) dimensioning and tolerancing, and v) rapid prototyping using 3D printing. Students develop and apply Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) skills for immersive design. Knowledge of the engineering design process will be demonstrated through a final project using 3-D CAD software.
Prerequisite(s): ENGR 110; ENGR 111 Corequisite(s): PHY 201/ PHY 203 Grading Basis: Graded Repeatable: No Typical Periods Offered: Fall
