ECCE 316 - Computer Architecture3 Cr. Hrs. This course provides foundation for understanding computer architecture and the relationship among the central processing unit, memory, and input/output (I/O). Information representation, instruction sets, addressing modes, design of arithmetic-logic units, hardwired and microprogrammed controllers, are covered. Included is a survey of representative modern architectures, memory-system designs, and I/O designs. One particular architecture will be selected to provide a platform for project-based learning.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of “C” or better in ENGR 130 and ECEE 210 Grading Basis: Graded Repeatable: No Typical Periods Offered: Spring
