ENGR 220 - Engineering Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer

3 Cr. Hrs.
Theory and application of energy methods in engineering; fundamental concepts of the first and second law of thermodynamics and entropy. Conservation of mass and energy; analysis of open and closed systems; applications to fixed mass systems and control volumes; vapor and gas power cycles; refrigeration and heat pump systems; mixtures of gases; and vapor psychrometrics. Rudiments of energy transfer by heat.

Prerequisite(s): ENGR 110; ENGR 111; ENGR 120; ENGR 121; permission of the instructor Corequisite(s): PHY 201/ PHY 203
