Introduces design, form and function, as a context for foundational skills in engineering problem solving. Students demonstrate problem solving techniques using technical spreadsheets, dimensions and units; use modeling techniques, apply simple statistical techniques and error propagation and analysis in the interpretation and validation of experimental results. Multi-disciplinary teams of students pursue design based on needs assessment that introduces sustainability issues appropriate to engineering. Various forms of technical communication are emphasized.
