SOC 312 - Deviance and Crime in Society3 Cr. Hrs. This course involves an examination of major topics in the sociological study of crime and deviance. Though some topics are presented in global perspective, emphasis is placed on related behavior and processes in the United States. Major topics include violent, normative, property, white-collar, cyber, and transnational crime. Suicide, mental illness, substance abuse and other forms of deviance are also explored along with various mechanisms of social control.
Prerequisite(s): SOC 101 or SOC 202
