Theatre Design and Production, BFA

The Theatre Design and Production degree equips students with the fundamental skills to enter the professional technical theatre workplace and/or graduate school.  Graduates of this program will be able to contribute to production and design in all forms of theatre. The art of theatre by its very nature is collaborative.  Teamwork and communication skills are essential for theatre, because they translate to other industries including the following: church, education, community, and industrial shows to name a few.

The curriculum is rooted in a firm foundation of exploratory courses in all aspects of theatre in addition to cornerstone courses in design and production.  In addition to traditional classroom study, students will be immersed in the workings of the South Carolina School of the Arts production season.  Students will be exposed to all areas of theatrical design and production but are encouraged to focus proficiency in at least one area of theatrical design or production.

Students will be assigned production positions in consultation with Theatre Design and Production faculty to mentor each student’s career path.
