Mathematics: Actuarial, B.S.
|
|
The Mathematics: Actuarial Science concentration prepares students for entrance into the actuarial profession through engaging coursework in probability, statistics, and mathematical finance. Actuaries evaluate and quantify risk for companies and people to make educated decisions for an unknown future. Admission into the actuarial profession is dependent upon completion of a series of examinations. Classes in the Mathematics: Actuarial, B.S. degree prepare students for multiple initial exams offered by the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society. In addition to mathematics courses, students will acquire accounting, finance, and economics skills through classes offered by the College of Business. Graduates from our program have gone on to work as both in-house actuaries and as actuarial consultants. Students in the program have also earned paid internships in the profession in both local companies and in international companies such as AIG. This program is a recognized actuarial program by the Society of Actuaries.
