Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Programs

General Engineers may also be thought of as Systems Engineers who learn the fundamentals of electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering to serve as an effective center point to the multi-disciplinary teams required for modern engineering.  Their work is impactful and collaborative.  As you progress through this program, you will learn about the business implications of your ethically conducted work and how to effectively communicate ideas and innovations to a wide range of audiences. Without a specific area of emphasis, general engineers use their upper-level courses as electives to pursue engineering with business or leadership or math. This program of study builds upon a strong foundation of math, computer science, and the physical sciences. The work of general engineers is inherently varied from heavy machinery to computer products to modern power grids.
