The dance program at Anderson University is designed to prepare students to function in a variety of artistic roles in the area of dance. The program encourages them to experience faith and to excel in dance academics and theory. Core requirements include technique courses in ballet, modern, and jazz as well as improvisation, dance history, pedagogy, choreography, and performance just to name a few. Because we focus on excellence, courses in the AU dance program are taught by some of the finest professionals in the upstate. Students perform a dance concert each year and have opportunities to dance in Christmas First Night, President’s Gala, and the Fall Theatre musical.
Whether you aspire to join a professional dance company, perform in musical theater, teach dance or move on to graduate study, your dance education at AU will be diverse and thorough enough to prepare you for your future in dance.
Your dance studies will require 120 credits through which you’ll have the unique opportunity to study ballet, jazz, tap and modern; many dance programs elsewhere limit your choices to ballet, modern or both
