HON 491 - Advanced Research

The second in a two-course capstone sequence for the Honors Scholars major, HON 491 requires students, in partnership with a chosen faculty member (subject to approval) to generate original and advanced research in an academic field. Students will complete an honors thesis (20-30 pages in length) of such quality to be published in a journal, presented at a conference, or showcased in an on-campus event. Ideally, the work extends from the student’s experience in HON 480 and likely includes submission to a scholarly venue for peer review. Additionally, the course should guide the student’s next steps, including but not limited to graduate admissions, Fulbright and similar scholarships, prestigious internships, and job placements.
