MAT 113 - Calculus Concepts 1: An Intuitive Approach to Differential Calculus

3 Cr. Hrs.


Designed for students seeking degrees in business, non-math and science secondary education, and related areas. Topics include functions data models; derivatives and their applications; optimization and curve-sketching; indefinite and definite integrals and their applications; area under a curve. Economic and business related applications are emphasized. 

Prerequisite(s): 530+ on Math SAT; 19+ on math ACT; MAT 105 ; MAT 107; or placement into MAT 113 via a placement test. 
Grading Basis: Letter Grade Repeatable: No Typical Periods Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
A student with a “C” or better in a math course numbered 140 or higher may not subsequently receive credit for a math course numbered less than 140, unless, due to the student’s major or change of major, the course is a math requirement.
