CTI 409 - The Biology of Stress and Stress Management

This course explores physiological components of the human stress response including an introduction to causal stimuli, biochemical pathways, and acute and chronic effects of stress.  Particular attention will be paid to strategies for managing stress rather than avoiding it.  A major paradigm for the course is the Ecology of Resilience model.  Two primary emphases will be the concept of resilience and the therapeutic value of nature and natural environments for managing stress.

Prerequisite(s): PHI 210
Grading Basis: Graded Repeatable: No Typical Periods Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
