CRJ 445 - Criminal Investigative Analysis3 Cr. Hrs. Criminal investigative analysis (CIA) encompasses more than crime scene investigations and behavioral analyses of potential suspects. CIA is the union of life experiences and professional training, incorporated into criminal investigations, interrogations and interviews, report writing, and affidavits for search warrants.
Through class exercises, students will be introduced to CIA as a mindset and an organizational tool for enhancing and streamlining criminal investigations. This course will focus on behavioral investigatory aspects of criminal investigative analyses. Students will learn how to construct, utilize, and evaluate behavioral investigative profiles, based on behavioral and physical evidence noted in closed case files.
