EDU 206 - The Nature of the Exceptional Child3 Cr. Hrs. This course intentionally focuses on students with exceptionalities by introducing the teacher candidate to individuals with exceptional learning needs who require specialized instructional practices that promote positive learning results in general and special education curricula. Topics include identification and characteristics of various exceptionalities; relevant laws and policies; classroom and behavior management; eligibility and placement, including inclusion; as well as strategies for collaboration and sensitivity.
