EDS 220 - Special Education Foundations

3 Cr. Hrs.
This course is designed to introduce the Special Education Multi-categorical teacher candidate to the historical, legislation and litigation foundations of Special Education and there influence on the roles, responsibilities, and evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices in special education. Topics will include the process of special education, IEP preparation, instructional organization and planning, response-to-intervention, positive behavioral intervention and supports, the reauthorization of IDEA, and standards for professional practice described by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Teacher Education Program. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Teacher Education Program.
