The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre provides training in musical theatre for aspiring actors, directors and teachers of musical theatre. Students in the major will be able to successfully perform and rehearse as a “triple threat” (actor/singer/dancer) in musical theatre, identify basic music theory components, identify the history and components of American musical theatre, identify major influences in American musical theatre, identify appropriate musical theatre productions for various audiences and venues, identify characters and themes from musical theatre repertoire and critique musical theatre productions.
In addition to course requirements, each musical theatre major must complete two crew credits.

Complete all of the following courses: Theatre Practicum (3 Cr. Hrs.)
Complete THE 101 three times. Only one credit may be used for Performance. Music Core (11 Cr. Hrs.)
Complete all of the following courses: Music Applied (11 Cr. Hrs.)
Complete a total of 6 hours of MUA110, 4 hours of MUA210, and 1 hour of MUA111. Music Ensemble (4 Cr. Hrs.)
Complete a total of 4 credit hours from the ensemble choices below: Dance Technique (12 Cr. Hrs.)
Student must fulfill 12 credits of DAN technique courses; 3 credits each of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Modern. Students may only register for the level approved by faculty. Advanced Acting (6 Cr. Hrs.)
