The Mathematics: Pure Mathematics concentration provides you with both the theoretical and practical experiences necessary to understand life mathematically. The degree culminates in an individual research project geared toward your interests under the direct supervision of a faculty member. Students will study algebra, analysis, and statistics, and gain the necessary skills to apply mathematical reasoning and techniques to solve real-world problems related to engineering, finance, and economics. These courses prepare students for graduate study in mathematics, statistics, engineering, and data analytics. 

Mathematics majors are encouraged to minor or double major in Computing and Data Analytics, Finance, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Students planning to pursue graduate studies in mathematics should take MAT 392 to fulfill the major core elective requirement and MAT 422 to fulfill one of the general elective requirements.
