Computer engineering may be defined as the design, manufacture, application, analysis, installation, operation and maintenance of computer products and systems and as engineering practice that brings to bear the fundamental concepts and practices of light, electricity and magnetism to bear on computer technology solutions. Computer Engineers sit at the intersection of computer hardware and software. They are the creators and enablers of systems that host and run appropriately designed and coded software. The computer engineer engages problems and challenges that integrate computer capability and software to create new, state-of-the-art products. Their work is impactful and collaborative. With an emphasis on “cyber-hardening,” this program of study builds upon a strong foundation of math, computer science, and the physical sciences. As you progress through this program, you will become proficient in your understanding of both hardware and software. Equally, you will learn about the business implications of your ethically conducted work and how to effectively communicate ideas and innovations to a wide range of audiences.
