This course offers students an introduction to environmental policy and law in the United States. After examining the role of legislators, the bureaucracy, and the courts in environmental policy making, students will analyze case studies of some of the most important environmental issues facing society today: air and water pollution; land use; solid and hazardous waste disposal; sustainable development; natural resource use; enivronmental justice; energy development and use; environmental health and safety; and international environmental regulation.
