EDS 396 - Practicum in Secondary Special Education: Intellectual Disabilities and Emotional/Behavior Disabilities

3 Cr. Hrs.
Supervised classroom experience prior to the Special Education Clinical Experience for special education, multi-categorical teacher candidates preparing to teach individuals with mild/ moderate intellectual disabilities and emotional behavior disabilities in middle and high school settings. The teacher candidate works under the guidance of Cooperating Teachers and University Supervisors in a secondary special education classroom. The teacher candidate will apply for Benchmark II during this course. This course must be taken the semester prior to EDU 490, Clinical Experience I. The teacher candidate must complete the requirements necessary to facilitate an application to the South Carolina Department of Education for teacher certification, including the “Educator Certification Application,” fingerprints for a SLED background check, and a copy of the teacher candidate’s Social Security card.
